Moise Iraus
Haitian Connection supported Moise with a full scholarship at the University of Fondwa, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. He returned to Fondwa to start Fondase, a microcredit organization that gives small loans to the farmers in the area. The farmers’ repayment rate is close to 90 percent. Moise next came to the University of the Nouvelle Grand’Anse (UNOGA), where he supervised the computer lab and, as the IT person, computerized all the university data. He then furthered his education by earning a Master’s degree in cyber security.
Pierre-Moise Louis
Haitian Connection supported Pierre-Moise with a full scholarship at the University of the Nouvelle Grand’Anse, where he graduated in Agronomy as the valedictorian. He went to Brazil and received a Master’s degree in agricultural sciences. While he was in Jeremie, Pierre-Moise founded his social enterprise, Jeremie Breadfruit Flour and Nursery, which processes breadfruit flour and bakes konparets (Haitian scones) for sale. He also trains workers in breadfruit flour production, demonstrates tree planting to farmers in the surrounding areas, and supports a tree nursery.

Reginal Marcelin
Reginal Marcelin, who saved the life of one of the university’s teachers during the 2016 hurricane in Jeremie, was able to study medicine at the University of the Aristide Foundation with the help of the teacher whose life he had saved. Studying in Port au Prince during the most horrifying gang activities was not easy, but he persisted and graduated. He awaits the assignment for his social service year, which he should receive in late 2024.
Esther Jacques
Esther Jacques, one of Haitian Connection’s mental health agents and the leader of the women’s group in Latibolye, is also part of the sales force for Jeremie Breadfruit Flour and Nursery, selling konparets in her area. Despite experiencing some difficulty currently, she has been one of the most active women in our program.
